Barcelona is the Catalonia capital (Spain) and of the homonymous province. It is put on the banks of the Mediterranean Sea, to a few 160 km southwards of the mountainous chain of the pyreneeses and the frontier with France, in a limited evenness for the sea, eastwards, the littoral chain of mountains ( saws of Collserola ) westwards, the Llobregat river southwards, and laugh Besós northwards.With a population of 1.582.738 inhabiting in the own city and of 4.667.136 in the metropolitan |area| , Barcelona is the second Spain city for inhabitants, behind Madrid.Barcelona has been stage of diverse worldwide happenings, that have contributed to shape the city and it give you international projection. The more relevant thing have been the universal expositions and International of 1888 and 1929 respectively, and the Olympic gameses of summer of 1992.
